The Fossil series are works which present a monochrome surface, seemingly expressing a frozen moment, something organic that once lived in a moment of activity. Some resemble static expressions of waves or brushstrokes. Some of them were once paintings that were exhibited and found their way into deep storage. They were discovered again in my trolling and covered in a single monochromatic layer of paint, leaving behind only the physical expressions of the brushstrokes to describe the life the painting had previously. In this way, the old work becomes metaphorically fossilized, its original color and life gone.
